“The ends you serve that are selfish will take you no further than yourself, but the ends you serve that are for all in common,  will take you into eternity”.

Jherome Okeel Pounall (AJahfari) was born on November 30, 1989. He was the first of two children born to mother Naveen Foster and father Allinton Pounall. He was born in the rural parish of St. Mary, in the district of Jacks River, where he first attended the Jacks River basic school. At age three (3) Ajahfari had developed a passion for music, as he would sing the songs of late reggae icon Garnett Silks “Hello Mama Africa” and “Kingly Character”.

As he grew older, Ajahfari would often use his mom’s radio to tape his voice recordings on cassette tapes using headphones and microphones. He also started performing at shows in the community, hence he got the name (Baby Gun), the name of a song by a popular group called Merital Family, also from the community.  He was then invited to a recording when he was fourteen years old in Arcade, downtown Montego Bay, where he got his first recording studio experience.

In 2014 he did a smash hit single titled “Is This Love” on Tallas records. This song received numerous air plays in 2015. He is now working on some new singles, and an EP.

The twenty seven year old father of two enjoys spending time with his kids, reading and researching about Africa, and playing football. His musical influences are Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown Garnett Silk, Sizzla, Tupac and Kartel to name a few.  His style of music is a fusion of reggae and r&b with spiritual lyrical content.

Ajahfari says to other aspiring artist like himself, “Persevere and believe what Marcus Garvey said that,” If you have no confidence in yourself you are twice defeated in the race of life, but with confidence you have won before you have even started.””
