One Radio Regrets Passing of Supervising Producer Volney Barrett

One Radio joins the Western Jamaica Media Association (WJMA) in mourning the sudden passing of its supervising producer Volney Barrett.

Barrett, who produces the show Talk Jamaica is also a freelance journalist and sub-editor with Western Mirror.  He gave of his time, considerable talents and energies to build the Talk Jamaica brand. Barrett was at all times a consummate professorial, who never took short cuts when it journalistic ethics. He has been an integral member of the One Radio family.

For the past 4 years Barrett worked tirelessly to develop and shape the Talk Jamaica brand, and was an integral part of the transition to the new brand ‘One Radio’.

Volney is remembered as an exceptionally kind human being who had an active interest in the advancement of his country.

He was admired by his peers and earned the respect of all his colleagues.

The management and staff of ‘One Radio’ extends heartfelt condolences to the family of our brother, Volney. He was a true son of the soil and his mark on the media landscape in Western Jamaican, and indeed in the digital sphere, will never be forgotten.
