Senate Passed Long Awaited Pension Bill

    Despite various delays, The Senate passed the Pensions Public Service Bill and the Constitution Amendment Established Fund Payment of Pensions Bill last Friday. Under the scheme, Public sector workers, such as teachers and police officers are expected to begin contributing 2.5 per cent by next year, and will eventually increase this amount by another 2.5 per cent, for a total contribution of five per cent per year.
